Journalism: Doesn't add up.
Maybe the Exit Strategy does not add up, but I mean that it may have been McChrystal's and Obama's as far as an Afghan Exit Strategy.

Deep Water Drilling Permits
A moratorium might not be necessary if one just reviews all the permits and find any cases whose assurances of safety or other requirements can be shown to be erroneous. I would suggest that be undertake post haste and under executive order, to heck with court rulings. Although it should be no great shakes to find errors that would place almost any endeavor under jeopardy.

Flash Words
and Holey Math!
The words are not as bad* as the math or the understanding of the checks and balances and full faith in budgets or IOU's.
* Picking up from the last link(or 2) in the last post I must note the biased(although that is relative)source(mediaite) and dig out the Paul Krugman and Peter G. Peterson sources above. And I have to say that there is no comparison to the "gotcha journalism" of recent controversy. Commissioner Simpson was the aggressor who stood his ground in error or at least two worlds, confusing the IOU's with the Lock Box. i.e. the double hit is not, except for the interest that is robbing Paul to not pay Peter. No pun on sources, but I must note that we have a strange convergence of agreement, Simpson must go or actually be used to school the debate. But I will unthread these sources to D-Day(the Derivatives article) in Progressive Breakfast with a side of Simpson a link to Krugman, and from him to The Fiscal Times(of Peter G. Peterson). Has one ever seen such bipartisan agreement that Simpson should go for several reasons?[bold added 1-31-11] But does it not boil down to this? The double hit is really a double pick pocket or some such farther from faith and credit to government.

Serious Progress?
Many Key an ism?
The Key is the J-street news.
The Blockade* has had an ironic effect? [No disrespect to the ism or True Torah Jews or Zionism.*]
* there is a place for all people but there is a difference between having sovereignty and being it. I am only explaining the difference between perspectives and within Zionism the difference in recognizing a place at the table and apparently not. True Torah Jews do not believe in a Jewish State, that does not mean they don't believe in Israel. Zionism believes in the need for a Jewish State, while some don't recognize the need for a Palestinian State. As I understand the True Torah Jews, it seems close to Manicheanism, a separation of church and state, the spiritual and material, and a relationship to all. The commonality at least is in the support for the American Isreali relationship by both J-Street and True Torah Jews.
* correction (Flotilla)(no longer ironic)

Use Dispersants On BP!
Not the chemical kind, the market kind.
The Answer to BP is Dispersants
Chapter 11 or Receivership? NO! Let the market work. As their stock goes down, someone will by it. Let them be taken over, but don't let them escape their responsibility. This idea started as a joke, what is the solution? Dispersants. Use them on BP, on the executives as well, might not be bad. As they are dispersed hold their new affiliations accountable.
Do you know who else started as a joke? Ayn Rand, at least as a fiction. But her ideas were soon dispersed, from Objectivism, to Libertarianism, Reaganomics. She was anti-collectivism, so she would rolling in her grave over the corporate personhood, but it is hard to tell, given how her ideas were dispersed, and never dispersed the foundational errors of government expansion. Or she could be just a misunderstood tea partier. But back to our problem, the BIG PROBLEM OF BIG PROFITS AND BIG POLLUTION. Too big to fail? Too big to bail... out that is.
If Obama does not quite meet the level of FDR, I might just say...GO BUSH! That is right GO BUSH ON US,GO BUSH ON BP, GO BUSH on the Bush Problems.**
Of course I am being facitious in part. But if he would at least GO TRUMAN on us, or even Milton Friedman. Few probably know (if wiki is right*) that Milton Friedman, proposed a negative income tax. And he was a Reagan economic advisor. Take what you will from this, but it better be a lesson that the government is not the problem, but it is part of it, and so are corporations.

The truth is not so irrational.
Paul Krugman austerity and the market
Robert Reich the market is not so rational.

[Or messing communications around the 14 to 17:22 minutes of Meet the Press. Speaking of jobs...
in editing, reading or writing...I must note:
A few years ago I read Democracies Discontent: America in Search of a Public Philosophy, by Michael J. Sandel. While I did read it (and finish it*), I did only scan several of the chapters after getting bogged down in the legal briefs and what seems like a perspective that was incomplete or leaning a bit.
Meanwhile this just in... to my email inbox.[Michael J. Sandel} I don't know if this calls my conclusions into question or he may have evolved.

Just to clarify...
Have they filled Helen's seat yet?
Just to clarify: I do not believe all Jews should go back home*, and I hope (and feel confident) Helen Thomas did not either.(**) She seems to recognize that there are two states, Israel and Palestine from her answer to the original question. Which is more than one might be able to conclude of the questioner[***], given the way it was (mis?)understood, and misrepresented. If Helen Thomas (age aside) can be given such a hard time for her opinion and poor decision to engage in a sidewalk interview, my point is that there would be a whole lot more job openings in journalism, especially in the media.
* which home and what is a Jew?(not that I am answering that, but that does go to the modus operandi of a lot of the questioners{so called journalists] with their "what if"s or "it is as if"s. By the Golden Rule, they would not have been in the position to have created this "gotcha moment", be they Wire Staff, Newsroom or Press Secretaries.)
(**) and belief and saying it are two different things which some confound.

Head Hunters?
Actually I am looking for a new job.
Rabbilive.com interviewed Helen Thomas.
Now she has been forced to retire in an ironic atmosphere. Of course she is a journalist and she should have been more careful with her words, or not even held an opinion or at least not mentioned it or done an interview.** Ironically it is hard to extend that consistency to the likes of the Right where journalism and opinion are so connected there would be a whole lot of job openings if it were to be applied across the board. It would also be hard for her to be turned down by some speakers boards*. But then we are back to the irony.
(or Try Un Ism)
* of course given market forces it would still be a risk
** even this may be to harsh an analysis: one would think that she said that Jews should get out of Israel. That is a flat out error by CNN.***
[There is no defending the conclusion that has been reached by those that have listened to Helen Thomas, yet that is a double-edged sword. The conclusion is unjustified that all Jews should get out of Israel, it is also not necessarily what she implied. The challenge is to find a true transcript of her answers to the questions and then not ask "what if's" that are equally off base, especially behind her back.]
*** ["Thomas was then asked where the Jews in Israel should go? Thomas responded, "They should go home," which the White House reporter identified as "Poland, Germany ... and America and everywhere else."] The bold is not confirmed by the original on Rabbilive.com]
